FAQ's

What are Anti-Wrinkle injections?

These are injections of botulinum toxin which are referred to by many practitioners as ‘anti-wrinkle injections’. Botulinum toxin is injected using a fine needle into the target muscle to temporarily block the nerve signal, resulting in weakening of the muscle action. This can result in an improvement in the appearance of lines of facial expression. Botulinum toxin can only treat lines of expression (dynamic lines). These are the lines that are present when the muscle is contracted. When the face is relaxed and lines are still present these are known as static lines and generally anti-wrinkle injections do not improve these lines.

Are Anti-Wrinkle treatments safe?

Millions of botulinum toxin treatments have been performed worldwide and it has an excellent safety profile. Only small doses are usually required which reduces any health risks.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance within the body. One of the main characteristics of hyaluronic acid is that it effectively binds water like a sponge, which is why it is an effective tissue filler. Most dermal filler brands will have several products in their range to enable treating different areas, ranging from softer fillers to treat fine lines and lips to firmer fillers to provide contour and shape.

Are Dermal Fillers painful to have?

Most dermal filler injections contain a small amount of lidocaine, which is a local anaesthetic to help reduce any pain experienced during the procedure. Also topical numbing cream can be applied to the area prior to treatment.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a minimally invasive procedure where a solution is applied to the skin for exfoliation and to help improve a variety of skin concerns. Chemical exfoliation has been used throughout history for over 3,500 years. Despite being described as a chemical peel or a skin peel, many modern-day treatments do not actually cause any peeling of the skin or very minor peeling.

Are Chemical Peels painful?

Superficial chemical peels are usually pain free or you may experience a mild stinging sensation when they are applied. If you have sensitive skin, you may experience some discomfort and burning with superficial or mid depth peels.

What are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are a injectable anti-ageing treatments that improve texture, hydration, elasticity and overall appearance of the skin. They can be used on the face, neck, and other areas of the body.

Are Skin Boosters painful?

Skin boosters do not contain lidocaine, therefore a mild stinging or burning sensation can be experienced but a topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) can be applied to the skin prior to treatment.

What does brow saturation mean?

When returning for top-ups after having your brows tattooed you may hear your brow artist say "your brows are too saturated to have a top-up" but what does this really mean? Did your current or previous artist explained that your skin will only accept a certain amount of ink? The problem is the exact amount is unknown as each person is different. So...Imagine you have a empty cup (this is your skin) and you fill half the cup with water (pigment from tattooing). Now, naturally the amount of water will decrease to a quarter as our macrophages (cells that detect and kill microorganisms in our bodies) will drink some of the water (ink) as they think it shouldn't be there. Overtime the amount will rise and fall depending on how many top-ups you have had, until one day your cup will be fully saturated. At this point part or full removal will be required, WHY? because no more pigment  will stay in the skin (your cup is now overflowing). and you will be wasting your money!

In terms of pigmentation less is more!
